The New Year always brings out great intentions. I leave the holidays this year feeling over-stuffed and over-indulged and ready to recommit to do better, eat healthier and maintain an exercise routine. Even me, the nutritionist, who knows better.
Detox is the perfect way to jump start your intentions, and set your body up for success. Because you're worth it. But what is detox in the first place, and why might it be for me?
Detox is defined as, "a process or period of time in which one abstains from or rids the body of toxic or unhealthy substances." But really detox is going on all the time, every moment in the body. Little trash trucks are working hard night and day to get rid of the waste that it doesn't need, thru urine and pooping (yes, I said the word!), Even at the cellular level, our cells are constantly working to get rid of the waste products of metabolism and bad diet.
The problem becomes when we put in more trash that our trucks can handle. We eat food with pesticides and additives. We eat ingredients we can't read or pronounce. We consume sugar and fake sugars, the list goes on. We choose the couch over walking around the neighborhood. We've all been there. In small amounts our body can take care of it, but on a daily basis, constant exposure to toxins leads us to a slew of symptoms that are really unpleasant. These toxins wreak havoc on our metabolism, causing us to gain weight, feel pain, have brain-fog, lose energy and become constipated. Eventually this all leads to disease.
So in 2020, I urge you to LOVE YOURSELF ENOUGH TO LIVE A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. Set your intentions and let's start on this road together so you can truly have a happy and healthy new year! We've got you covered with detox programs that work - reach out!
